Acupuncture
helping with painful conditions
Following a report into
whether acupuncture helped to benefit patients suffering from
painful conditions such as arthritis, low back pain and stroke
related dysfunction. The Acupuncture Research Clinic in Singapore
monitored 1128 patients who received a total number of 12,172
acupuncture appointments between September 1995 and December 1996.
Prior to the treatment, about
75 % of patients believed that acupuncture would be of benefit to
them and 40% had tried acupuncture previously.
Following the treatment, 70%
of the patients considered acupuncture safe, 54% were satisfied with
the overall results and would recommend acupuncture to others with
similar conditions.
This trial showed that
acupuncture is safe and beneficial to patients with painful
conditions.
