5 Steps to Find a Product That Will Actually Reduce the Size of Your Pores

By: Naweko SanJoyz

Are you desperate to shrink you pores back to their prepubescent proportions? No one can blame you. Smaller pores make your skin look firmer, younger and flawless.

The size of your skin?s pores are determines by a medley of factors, including your genes, sex, environment, nutritional intake, drug usage and overall health.

Regardless of what pore size Mother Nature bequeathed you, you can hunt down a product that will actually reduce the ?appearance? of large pores. Read: ?appearance?.

To start this pore reducing product quest, first, we need to talk about your pores.

Question 1: Are your pores actually large or are they just full of crap?

Your skin?s pores serve several functions. One of those functions is as a moisture pipeline.

Each day, sebaceous glands beneath the surface of your skin pump oils through the pores so that this lubricating agent reaches the surface of your skin, where it can help moisturize and protect your skin from environmental hazards.

If this moisture pipeline gets with jammed the excess oils and debris, the pore must expand to accommodate the extra waste. This clogged-pore effect makes the pore look larger than it actually is.

Pore reducing product solution for skin full of crap: To fix large pores caused by excess waste, use a potent clay mask to draw out the excess oils beneath the skin. Oil-absorbing facial masks contain clays like bentonite clay, rhassoul clay and red Moroccan clay. These clays suck oils from the skin. But use caution, such clays can be too powerful for sensitive skin.

Question 2: Is your face covered with blackheads or whiteheads?

Again, blackheads and white heads are just a function of the skin?s moisture pipeline malfunctioning. Blackheads and whiteheads will cause the pore widen and appear larger.

Pore reducing product solutions for blackheads and whiteheads:

Exfoliating products like baking soda will help dislodge a blackhead and return the pore to its natural size. Since whiteheads reside beneath the skin using a deep penetrating clay mask may help draw up the oil the debris from within a whitehead.

Question 3: Are your pores inflamed?

Irritating skin care products, hormonal shifts and allergic reactions can cause inflamed pores. As antimicrobial fluids and blood rush to the site of the irritated pore to carry away the affecting agents, the pore expands.

Pore reducing product solutions for inflamed pores:

Usually, your body will naturally handle the inflammation over the course of 2-3 days. Just keep the pore clean and avoid excessively touching the skin.

Applying a soothing essential oil like lavender or chamomile diluted in a carrier oil like jojoba can also help the inflammation subside faster.

Question 4: Are you hydrated?

Dry skin expands and exaggerates the skin?s natural features. For example, if you placed your smooth appearing arm beneath a microscope that magnified the view of your skin by 100 times, your skin would suddenly resemble fish scales.

Then again, if let your skin get excessively dry, your skin would take on the look of fish scales without the help of a microscope.

The same phenomenon happens with your pores. Dehydrated skin accentuates the pore size.

Pore reducing product solutions for dehydrated skin:

Water. Get it at your local tap or water cooler. Also, consuming moisture-rich foods like watermelon, apples, oranges, grapes and grapefruits are a fun way to hydrate your skin.

Likewise, eating foods rich in the essential fatty acid Omega-3 will hydrate the skin. You can get Omega-3 from fish, olive and flaxseed oils and from avocados.

Question 5: Do you squeeze your pores daily?

While the skin is one of our most resilient organs, it has limits. Squeezing your pores daily to extract waste can damage your pores over time. This damage impairs the skins elasticity and its ability to return to its normal size once dermal waste is extracted from the pores.

Granted, there is a time to extract the pores, daily pore squeezing proves counter-productive to minimizing your pore size.

Pore reducing product solutions for daily pore squeezing:

Use skin care products that contain salicylic, lactic or glycolic acids to dissolve the excess oils within the pores. Allow the mild acids to work over the course of 2-3 days.

The acids will dissolve the excess wastes layer by layer, substantially limiting the need for daily pore squeezing.

Just remember, to keep your pores tiny, yet functional, use products that remove excess oils, limit inflammation and keep your skin?s moisture pipeline clear. And that concludes our pore reducing product quest.

Happy shrinking!
