Acne Skin Care Products

Acne is a diease of the skin caused by blocking of a skin follicle and trapping oil in the skin. The glands then become infected by bacteria, this becomes Acne.

Several Acne products are available today. Some acne products available are, anti-bacterial acne products, skin exfoliating acne products, antibiotic acne products, retinoidal oral/topical acne products, hormonal acne products. Some alternative medicine acne products are also available, but most have not been proven to be effective.

An ointment containing benzoyl peroxide can be applied to the skin for some forms of acne. It kills the bacteria that can form pimples. Products containing benzoyl peroxide are considered the best over the counter acne product available today.

Exfoliating involves removing a microscopic layer of skin, this usually acomplished by using an exfoliating cleanser. These cleansers are specially formulated to remove a slight amount of skin. Exfoliating can also be done by a doctor if the acne is severe.

Topical antibiotics are also used in the battle with acne these include erythromycin, and clindamycin. These will kill the bacteria. Once the bacteria is dead the skin will clear up.

Some antibiotics require a prescription, a couple are tetracycline and trimethoprime. Antibiotics are only prescribed when the acne is considered severe. Acne can come back after being treated with antibiotics. This is why it is important to start a prevention regimen as soon as possible.
