Today I?m going to address a very important issue when it comes to finding a cure for your acne. If you?ve been searching around the internet for information on acne treatments, then I?m sure you?ve already come across many of the outrageous claims such as ?cure your acne overnight!? or ?cure your acne in three days!?
Maybe you?ve even come across a few herbal acne treatments that seem a little too unbelievable to be truthful.
And unfortunately, 99% of the time all of these cures won?t work. But when there?s someone who wants something, invariably there will be someone promising to sell it to you.
But in reality, there aren?t any cures for acne. The best you can do is take steps to prevent it from happening (such as good nutrition, good skin care etc) or treat it when it does happen (by seeing your dermatologist and using good over-the-counter acne treatment products).
It can take a long period of time for you to be totally rid of your acne. The best step to take is to go see your dermatologist. But many people prefer to try over the counter treatments first. Although I can?t fully recommend this, I know most people will try to buy products first before seeing a medical professional.
So with this in mind, you might want to get yourself a good cleanser, some medicated gel or cream to apply to affected areas (something containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide is usually best ? although using both together may agitate your skin, so just pick one).
You may also want to pick up some moisturizer to keep your skin moisturized while you?re trying the different products. Many over-the-counter acne treatments can dry out your skin if you use them regularly (say twice a day, which is what you need to be doing for them to work).
So in conclusion, there are many claims out there (especially on the internet) about incredible acne cures that work in just a few days, but as the saying goes: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
However, there is no single ?cure? for acne. The best way to get rid of it is to contact your dermatologist, and use good quality over-the-counter products consistently. Remember to cover the basics of good skin care: gentle cleanser, a treatment containing salicylic acid or benzoyl, and a moisturizer.
In the long term, this is the best way to treat acne.
