Get Rid of Acne Scars With Lasers

By: Lim Zheng Yang

You might have considered acne laser treatment at some point when you wondered how to get rid of acne scars.

Well, it is one of the ways that many have tried as a means for scar removal, and is becoming an increasingly utilized acne scar treatment procedure.

Back in the late eighties, these pulsed dye lasers were experimented on thickened, overgrown scars. The result was an improvement in the appearance of the scars, approximately in the range of 57% to 83%.

Some researchers combined this techonology with carbon dioxide laser vaporization to reduce non-reddened, minimally thickened scars. This method worked best for atrophic acne scars.

Depending on the type of lesion and each individual's collagen and wound healing response, the number of treatments required also varies.

But because the specific type of scar is sometimes difficult to determine, it is important that your doctor conducts a thorough evaluation for you before administering any treatment plan.

This acne laser treatment procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia. The patient will return 6-8 weeks later for evaluation and the doctor will decide if a subsequent treatment is needed.

According to my research, the ratio of people who are pleased with the results as compared to those who were disappointed are pretty balanced out.

Because of the usually hefty price tag, my suggestion is to discuss with you doctor all options available, such as dermabrasion and chemical peels.

Remember, you always have a choice, and there's definitely an option that's best for you.

So do your due diligence and spend your money wisely.

Lim Zheng Yang used to suffer from acne and has spent countless hours researching on this skin condition and the best ways to treat it.
