Transcendental Meditation lowers use of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs

Transcendental Meditation has been shown to lead to a reduction in the use of alcohol, cigarettes and non-prescribed drugs.

A review of nineteen reported studies found there was a significant reduction when using Transcendental Meditation compared with standard therapies and other techniques of meditation and relaxation.

Over an 18-24 month period, abstinence ranged from 51% to 89% when using Transcendental Meditation, compared to only 21% for conventional substance abuse programmes.
