Do You Know What To Do When You Experience Sudden Hair Loss

By: David Everett

There are few things more disturbing than finding out that your hair is falling out all of a sudden. It can scare the best of us when we see the comb full of hair, and the sight of the lost hair can make you desperate to seek out measures to combat it.

On impulse, the first step that most people take when confronted with this sudden hair loss is to change their shampoo or conditioner. Although this can, on occasion, be the cause of the hair loss, most times the cause is much more deeply rooted.

Possible Causes

Sudden hair loss, more often than not, is the result of the side effects of either using medicines or undergoing psychological stress. Another reason for sudden hair loss could be hormonal imbalances. Alternatively, it could be the symptom of an underlying serious disease such as leukemia, diabetes or lupus.

The best way to check your sudden hair loss is to determine the root cause of the hair loss. Once the reason is identified then the correct treatment becomes a lot easier to determine. However, the diagnosis to find out the cause of hair loss can take a while.

Your doctor is the best person to help you with solving this problem. There are several tests that will need to be carried out in order to seek out the real underlying cause for your sudden hair loss.

Treatment for Sudden Hair Loss

The diagnosis will be clear when the results of tests are known. The first thing the doctor will have to rule out is any scalp infection. The next major cause for this type of hair loss is experiencing sudden stress or psychological trauma.

The treatment for hair loss should be carried out utilising great patience and care. Why? Because the regeneration of hair is a slow process and it can take quite a long time before you will see the results. Instead of letting the treatment take its course, impatient people may panic. This can result in their using any number of dubious products that are advertised as beneficial in the media.

However, these products can further aggravate the situation and promote hair loss instead of curing it. This is why when you are undergoing hair loss treatment it is essential to not only receive expert attention, but that you also have sufficient patience to let the treatment take its course.

I must stress once again however, that unless you identify the root cause for your sudden hair loss, whatever treatment you undergo will not really be of any help.
