Hair Treatments May Cause Hair Loss

By: Jeanette Pollock

Wearing the perfect hair is often an obsession for some women. At one time or another, women spend a fortune and several hours in saloons and hair spas to get that perfect hair. However, not all hair treatment could make your hair shine. Depending on your type of hair and the sensitivity of your scalp, hair treatment could do more harm than good to your hair.

According to recent studies, chemicals used for dying, tinting, bleaching and straightening or perming could actually damage that beautiful hair. Like most parts of the body, your hair is very sensitive and could be easily damaged if you indiscriminately use chemicals on it. Hair bleaching agents for example are often strong chemicals, which can cause you hair to become brittle and dry. As roof of how strong you hair bleaching agent is, get a piece of cloth with a stubborn stain on it, apply your favorite hair-bleaching agent to the stain and see what happens. As expected, the stain would start to wash off. Now try to repeat the process several times and you will notice that the texture of the cloth becomes thinner. As the cloth becomes thinner, so does your hair. Constant exposure of your hair to harmful chemicals would lead to hair damage and hair loss.

Excessive hairstyling and those cool hairstyles that are often attained by pulling and knotting your hair tightly could cause damage. Pulling your hair tightly could lead to traction alopecia or hair loss due to pulling. So stop torturing an pulling that beautiful hair before you develop scalp scarring and loss your hair permanently.
