Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus
globulus
The tree is indigenous with a few exceptions to
Australia and Tasmania. Traditionally it was used as an aboriginal fever
remedy and was introduced in the West in the 19th Century.
Eucalyptus trees are quick growers and many species reach a great height.
The property of the oils is antiseptic and
research suggests that some species counteract influenza viruses and are
highly active against bacteria. The oils are used in a wide range of
infections including scarlet fever, measles and typhoid.
