Remedies Scullcap
Scullcap Scutellaria
spp.
The scullcaps belong to the genus scutellaria and
are slender plants scattered over different parts of the world, being
especially abundant in America. It was used by the Native Americans for
rabies and to promote menstruation.
Today, it is one of the best herbs for treating
nervous disorders. The aerial part of the plant is used for calming many
nervous conditions and has a nourishing effect on the central nervous
system and so ideal for nervous exhaustion. It can also be helpful in
pre-menstrual tension, epilepsy, hysteria, convulsions and nervous
headaches.

as a nerve relaxant and antispasmodic
Application
Aerial
parts
Infusion Traditionally, the fresh herb is
used to make soothing tea in nervous exhaustion, over-anxiety,
pre-menstrual tension. For insomnia, skullcap can be combined with wild
lettuce, or passionflower and taken at night.
Tincture Traditionally it is best made
from fresh herbs to calm the nerves.
