" The integration of Complementary Medicine
into the modern UK Healthcare system is of paramount importance" says
Tom Lafferty, Chairman of the British Complementary Medicine Association.
"An increasing number of general practitioners and nurses are now
acknowledging the value of Complementary Medicine and the part it can play
in giving the public a wider choice of treatments."
The NHS Patients Charter recognises the benefits
that Complementary Medicine can provide and supports patients who ask to
be referred to a Complementary Therapist by their doctor.
The BCMA believes that this significant aspect of
Healthcare needs to be much more widely publicised and understood for the
good of patients everywhere. In addition, all orthodox medical
practitioners should be aware of and act on this aspect of the Patients
Charter wherever appropriate.
