A Healing Therapy Group has been re-formed by the
British Complementary Medicine Association. Its task is to encourage
healers of various backgrounds to come together to agree on mutually
acceptable common standards of best practice in Healing and present a
united voice to the public, the government and the medical profession.
Through a series of regular forums with healing
groups around the country, its Co-ordinator, Paula Marie, is seeking to
facilitate a new accord among healing organisations with an affinity of
healing interests. Her aim is to ease the process of developing standards
of practice, to which all can ascribe while maintaining their own unique
individuality.
This can be the first step to self-regulation in
the healing movement and to meeting the Government’s wish to establish a
truly integrated healthcare system.
While the BCMA is not a standards setting body,
it earnestly desires to see common standards across the whole spectrum of
Complementary Medicine, as a necessary foundation for self-regulation.
