Press Release
New alliance for Complementary Medicine

The British Complementary Medicine Association (BCMA) - the UK's leading umbrella body for complementary therapies has teamed up with the Internet Health Library - the UK's leading internet health resource which specialises in providing the latest news, information and research on alternative and complementary medicines and natural health care.

The BCMA represents 45 single therapy organisations, 18 independent schools and over 20,000 complementary medical practitioners throughout the UK.

The Internet Health Library maintains a comprehensive database of fully referenced research relating to complementary medicines and natural health care, and has links to hundreds of professional associations, self-help organisations, and suppliers of reputable related products and services.

Over the past decade, the level of interest in complementary medicine has grown exponentially. Recent surveys reveal that over 40% of GPs regularly refer patients for complementary medical treatments, 85% of medical students and 76% of GPs believe complementary therapies should be made more widely available through the NHS, 89% of nurses recommend complementary therapies to patients and 33% of the general public have used complementary therapies (of which over 80% stated that it had helped them).

The new alliance between the BCMA and the Internet Health Library means that health professionals and the growing number of members of the public interested in complementary medicines will have FREE access to every aspect of complementary health care, including fully referenced research, qualified practitioners, quality training and reputable products and services.
