The British Complementary Medicine
Association is pleased to announce that
ITEC Professionals has joined its
expanding membership. Welcoming ITEC into the Association Chairman Sarah
Noble said "This partnership will be mutually beneficial to both ITEC
Professionals and the BCMA and will provide added advantages to all our
members. We are delighted to have ITEC working with us."
The International Therapy
Examination Council (ITEC) was the first examination body to make
Complementary Therapy an accepted occupation in the marketplace. Founded
in 1947 by Dr Arnould Taylor, it has grown to become the largest awarding
body for vocational qualifications in Complementary Therapy, Beauty
Therapy and Sports Therapy.
The new ITEC management team was set
up in 1998 and now has headquarters in West London. Director Jane Foulston
says, "The link up with BCMA is of tremendous benefit to the ITEC
Graduates and BCMA Members as we are all committed towards maintaining
standards in training and the Complementary Therapy profession. ITEC now
has over 30 qualifications and some 500 colleges worldwide and is also an
official awarding body approved by the Department of Education and
Employment."
Recently ITEC decided to form ITEC
Professionals, a new organisation exclusively for those who hold an ITEC
therapy Qualification, providing long term support for ITEC graduates
during their careers.
The BCMA is the major multi-therapy
body for Complementary Medicine in the UK. Its basic aim is to deliver
safe and efficacious Complementary Medicine to the public.
