The Bate's Association for Vision Education is the representative body for Bates Vision
teachers and operates in the mutual interest of members and the general
public by:
- regulating and overseeing teacher training
- maintaining a register of qualified teachers
- encouraging continuing professional development and international
links
- providing information on Vision Education to the public.
'Vision Education 'means learning to use your eyes and brain in
different ways to improve the way you see. 'Bates Vision Education'
addresses eyesight problems from a broad holistic perspective based on the
methods of Dr W H Bates (1860 - 1931) which emphasizes the importance of
relaxation and movement.
Bates Vision Teachers are not Eye Doctors or Optometrists and Vision
Education does not replace or compete with regular eye care. however,
experience shows that it has useful application in relation to a wide
range of eye- and vision -related problems.
