Reflexology
Surveys
Reflexology
in Denmark
Reflexology is now the most frequently used alternative
therapy in Denmark. A recent survey of 480 trained reflexologists was
carried out in Denmark. Data was gathered about the reflexologists' practice
and clientele and it was found that the majority of the practising
reflexologists are women over 40 years old, most of whom work from home.
Half of the reflexologists use reflexology exclusively, while the other half
supplement reflexology with massage, acupuncture, psychotherapy, diet
counselling and kinesiology.
The study indicates that most
reflexologists are women and the most frequent health problems addressed by
reflexologists are pain in muscles/body; stomach pain/digestive problems;
asthma/bronchitis/allergy; headache/migraine and hormonal problems.
Interestingly, twenty-three per cent of their clients had not been treated
by a medical doctor for the problem(s) for which they consulted a
reflexologist.
