Emu oil for massage therapy has gained much popularity in recent days. The oil comes from the fat of a native bird from Australia called emu. Since ancient times, Australian aborigines have been using the medicinal properties of Emu oil for various purposes. No one else took much note of it. However, it was only fairly recent that the structural components of emu oil were analysed in research studies and found to have high healing benefits.

Emu oil is a very mild oil. It is highly recommended for those with skin disorders like eczema due to its moisturizing properties. It is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic; thus it would not clog your pores.

Eczema is a skin disorder, with reddened rashes, intense irritation and severe itching. One research finding is that those with eczema lack unsaturated fatty acids in their bodies. Emu oil appears to provide the missing ingredient. It contains 70 % unsaturated fatty acids, of which 20% is linoleic fatty acid. Linoleic is a proven skin nourishment. This makes emu oil for massage therapy helpful to those with skin problems.

Emu oil contains natural antioxidants. It is also antibacterial. Those with broken skin can safely use this oil. Emu oil also helps with the regeneration of skin cells. This oil also has properties that allow it to penetrate quickly into the skin.

Emu oil for massage therapy is a good consideration when you are deciding what oils to use. You can apply this oil to your skin about 2-3 times a day especially if you are having dry and scaly skin. For massage, rub the oil in a circular motion to aid in penetration. This will also help improve the blood circulation and brings the required nutrients to your body tissues and cells.

Emu oil comes in different grades. For the highest quality, you should use emu oil that is prepared from specially nurtured emu. Farms that rear these birds ensure that they are free from diseases and feed them a carefully planned diet. They prepare their high grade emu oil taken from 3 to 4 year old Emu birds, through a rigorous and hygienic systematic process.

Hence, if you want to enjoy the full benefits from the healing properties of emu oil for massage therapy, be sure to use one that is 100% pure and naturally refined. Prices are of course more expensive for emu oil with the highest grades. But the price may be well worth it especially if you have sensitive and cracked skin.
