How Basic Pilates Exercise Can Seriously Help You

By: Anita Wisp

Joseph Pilate, a German, invented the Pilates Exercise for himself because he was sick and asthmatic from birth and could not do the regular exercises like other kids. When he was arrested in France as an illegal immigrant he practiced Pilates Exercise while he was in prison. Since then Pilates Exercise has become widely recognized as a way to improve physical health.

One of the basics of Pilates Exercise is the use of different breathing techniques combined with stretching and a very simple machine.

Pilates Exercise is designed to improve the body core including muscles in the abdomen, back, and buttocks. According to some opinions it is better than Yoga exercises because it strengthens the body by improving posture strength and increasing muscle flexibility through the use of stretching. The machine in Pilates Exercise forces the body to stay in a certain position while moving the other parts in various directions. This increases the body's ability to endure strain and a gradual increase in strength.

Another of the basics of Pilates Exercise is the use of mental ability to improve movement, efficiency, and muscle control. This is the reason some people claim that Pilate Exercise also helps in the improvement of the practitioners? mental state.

Pilates Exercise involves the development of good posture through the exercises performed. The use of breathing techniques in Pilates Exercises helps the increase mental focus and concentration powers. The ability to focus on the flexibility and strength of different muscles is the reason why it is so popular among dancers and acrobats.

With sustained and regular use of Pilates Exercise the body becomes well balanced and stronger. Apart from the increase in strength, another reason why people opt for Pilates Exercise is weight loss. Other benefits include higher energy levels, more endurance power, more flexibility, and a flat abs.
