The remedy Ignatia is most commonly used for
emotional problems. Made from the seeds of Ignatia amara, which contain
strychnine, it effects the nervous system.
Ignatia types are sensitive, artistic and
highly-strung. If things go wrong they are likely to blame themselves.
Their over-reactive and over-sensitive nature leads to rapid changes of
mood. The Ignatia patient suffers from loss: loss of boyfriend, child or
husband, leading to deep states of grief.
Like Arg-nit, Ignatia has symptoms of trembling
and agitation. Often the ailments tend to be changeable and full of
contradictory symptoms, such as parts of the body are painful, but better
for pressure. It is mainly given to women. The Ignatia patient is inclined
to misplace their affection and then collapse and want to be left alone
with their troubles.
Ignatia types tend to be thin, dark haired women
and can have bluish circles around the eyes. They are better for warmth
and worse for cold air, tobacco and touch.
Complaints that benefit from Ignatia often arise
from emotional upset or uncontrollable grief. It can be used to treat
headaches, sore throats, coughs and menstrual problems.
