Metabolism is a crucial part of gaining or losing weight. Some have it better than others.
There are a few things that can be done to alter your metabolism and how fast it works. The biggest thing that you can do to benefit yourself is get that heart beat going. This may seem a little strange but lifting weights helps a great amount. Burning the calories and at the same time your body is working so hard to try to lift a certain weight. Often individuals will see results while just working out their body parts and not taking part in a cardio exercise.
Now obviously cardio is another great strategy for burning calories and speeding up that metabolism. Most people are aware that cardio helps, but many have a misinterpretation of how it helps. I often see people do a 20 minute run on the treadmill and then call it a day. That?s not going to work. Burning calories maybe but metabolism no. I would suggest maybe a 30-45 minute work out. Also metabolism and calorie burning depends on the intensity level of the work out. Doing a slow jog for 15 minutes...You might as well be sitting on the couch lifting your beer and watching the game. Rev up your running for maybe a minute and then do a calm down jog and then do it again. Studies have show repetition is no good and that your work out and exercises need to vary and display some high intensity.
The final strategy to getting that metabolism up is ironically eating and large amounts. Eating a lot will actually speed up your metabolism. Now this can be deceiving to people. A body builder wants to eat more, for one he wants that protein and two he wants his metabolism to go crazy. He doesn't want that weight going to the wrong area.
All and all metabolism needs to be your friend when trying to get in shape. Make it a partner and use it to your advantage...
