You like millions of people think that artificial sweeteners will help you lose weight because they contain no calories and no sugar to spike your insulin.
After forty years of fake chemical sweeteners, not a single study has shown an even mildly convincing association between sugar substitutes and weight loss. Researchers have discovered that artificial sweeteners?fake pleasure?may actually cause weight gain. As fate would have it, the artificial sweetener molecule is so crafty that it convinces the brain that it is real sugar, so the body releases insulin to help metabolize the artificial sugar. Since there is no real sugar present, the excess insulin, with nothing to do, performs its other evolutionary task, which is to signal the body to store fat.
Aspartame, released on an unassuming American public (and banned in most of the world by the FDA after 16 years of testing that could not prove its safety) is a significant neurotoxin. A neurotoxin is a toxic agent or substance that inhibits, damages or destroys the tissues of the nervous system, especially neurons, the conducting cells of your body's central nervous system. Aspartame metabolizes in the body into methanol, a.k.a. wood alcohol. This creates formaldehyde?a known carcinogen?in the liver which is quite deadly and pickles your organs, similar to work done by a funeral director. Diet soda and sweets are loaded with aspartame under the guise of NutraSweet and Equal.
Neurotoxins adversely affect neurologic function. Chronically ill patients had many previous diagnoses, including Depression, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Sick Building Syndrome, Bell's Palsy, learning disability, endometriosis, sensory-neural deafness, low vision, Chronic Soft Tissue Injury and Post-Lyme Disease . The diagnosing physicians did not realize that their illness was caused by neurotoxins.
My professional opinion is this: If there is a synthetic sweetener?Aspartame (NutraSweet and Equal) in processed foods or as a sweetener for coffer or tea in your cupboard, throw it out and never use it again.
