Wants vs Needs

Our visitors were friends of friends and we knew very little about them.

It is said that strangers are friends we haven?t met yet.

During our conversations the topic of health came up and we were asked what we did to keep healthy.

Part of our response was to relate that we had not eaten flesh foods for over 33 years.

The male partner became a little bashful at this point because his partner had been a vegetarian until they had met.

The ensuing conversation turned into an open and honest discussion of the pros and cons of an individual's diet.

In the end we agreed that choice was the determining factor ? the choice of doing what we want vs. what we need.

All of my experiences in the past 33 years indicate and prove (to me at least) that the natural diet of the human animal is one of a vegetable nature.

Cultures that adhere to a plant based diet are less likely to have major health problems.

The western diet, complete with processed grains, sugars and chemically laden ?snack? foods has overpowered our senses to the point that we even see children turning their noses up at fruits and vegetables.

There is no substitute for unprocessed, uncontaminated. fresh, whole foods.

I suspect that few people would dispute this line of thinking, however, when it comes time to choose our diet, many prefer to follow the dictates of want instead of need.

All the best in all we do
