Ways To Get Your Daily Fruits And Vegetables

Here are five tips to help you get fruits and veggies more involved.

Mandatory fruit portion at breakfast

Breakfast is mandatory. You can't afford to skip this meal. A healthy, powerful breakfast is a great start to any day. Enhance your morning meal by including a mandatory fruit portion. You don't have to be specific about it, any fruit will do. Prepare your fruit portion in the evening so you can grab it to go if needed. If you can really make this morning fruit portion a habit, you're bound to want to eat some more fruit throughout the day.

It's easy to spruce up salads

Salads are like a blank canvas. If you only use two colors or flavors, you're limiting yourself. You have to mix in other elements. Introduce some texture in the form of croutons or nuts. Throw some cranberries in the mix. Combine different types of lettuce. Water down your dressing so that it doesn't drown out the various flavors of your custom mixture.

Snack on cut veggies and salad dressing

You're going to snack anyway, might as well be healthy about it. Cut up some celery, carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, cucumber or any other veggie you can slice. Serve these veggies up with salad dressing. Include multiple dressings for an excellent mix and match snack combo.

Juice

Although it's actually more nutritious to eat your fruits and veggies, you can't deny that juicing has its values. Stick to homemade, freshly squeezed concoctions. Try to mix it up. Grab some ice and get your blender involved. Juicing takes a little bit of effort, but the results are usually tasty. Here's a tip: When your juicing and blending, keep the veggie juice with veggie juice, and the fruit juice with fruit juice. If you combine the two, the results are mixed. If you join similar juices together, you'll have a better tasting outcome.

Late night fruit snacking

We all love sweets. For some reason, when the sun goes down and all evening meals have been completed, the urge for sweet-snacking increases. If you need a late night candy snack, there's a healthy way to satiate your sweet-tooth: creative fruit arrangements. Think cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries, grapes and apples of all sorts. Fruit doesn't cost as much as most sweets, and it's a healthier option. If you want to live a balanced life then you have to find creative ways to make healthy options more appealing.
