The Coeliac Society
The Coeliac Society supports people
diagnosed with coeliac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis. These lifelong
conditions are treated by a diet without gluten and related proteins from
grains.
Membership of the Coeliac Society, which
is free, provides a regularly updated ‘Food List’ of permitted foods,
a magazine and access to advice and information on all aspects of life as
a coeliac. Local groups for members offer peer support, social gatherings,
cookery demonstrations and talks.
In addition to practical support the
Coeliac Society finances scientific research into the disease and liaises
with food, health and regulatory bodies for improved awareness and
services.
