The Vegetarian Society

The Vegetarian Society exists to promote and provide information on vegetarianism. The society runs the widely trusted V symbol. The Cordon Vert Cookery School, a membership scheme and publishes The Vegetarian Magazine quarterly. The Vegetarian Society is a registered charity dedicated to promoting a diet that is good for animals, people and the environment.

The Vegetarian Society is the oldest vegetarian organisation in the world and is the leading voice and authority on vegetarianism.

We exist to represent our members and the UK’s four million vegetarians by raising awareness of vegetarianism and surrounding issues through campaigning, educating, providing information, research and working with the food industry.

The Vegetarian Society is also a registered charity, an independent voice whose purpose is to promote the many advantages the vegetarian diet offers. Importantly, we aim to open up even more options for vegetarians.

The Vegetarian Society’s very own symbol is widely recognised as the most trusted guarantee of vegetarian suitability.
