When I think of water I never think of it as something that will help me lose weight. I just always know I need to drink it to be healthy. Water is really the fuel that helps fat burn efficiently. In fact I was surprised at how well water burns fat when a patient who came into the office the other day who I had not seen in a year in a half. He had lost about 100lbs and all he did was drink 6 liters of water a day. So really how much water do we really need? There is always debate on how much water to drink, and as of yet we cannot find any research to tell you how much. The general rule of thumb we use is to make sure that your urine is clear to a slight yellow in color. Yellow urine is a sure sign of dehydration.
Drink water until your urine is clear. Start in the morning. Upon waking go to the kitchen pour yourself a big glass of water put a slice of lemon in it and start your day off right. Lemons help alkalize your body, which aids in balancing the body and helping fat burn better during activity.
The more water you can drink in the morning the better. I start each by drinking a liter of water. It sounds difficult, and guess what, for the first couple of days it is. If you can stick with it by the third and fourth day your body can deal with the huge amount of water in a more efficient way.
Adding lemon, apple cider vinegar or Aloe Vera juice to the liter of water really alkalizes the body, and goes a long way in helping your body get into a fat utilizing mode. If you really want to lose weight just drink more water.
