How to Look Thin When Youre Not

While trying to trim your tummy, try wearing clothing that helps you look thin. That?s a good idea no matter what your weight ? certain clothes look great on some people, and not so great on others. That?s important to remember. I often look at people and wonder if they have a mirror at home. You must wear clothes that match your body style, that enhance your look ? not clothes that make you look worse. I am so happy to see the trend change from belly shirts to long shirts that cover the waist. Just because something is in style, doesn?t mean you can wear it. If you don?t have the body for it, don?t wear it! Too many young girls (and even women) with tummy fat wear tops that don?t cover their waist, which results in extra tummy being revealed. This is not attractive. These people are candidates for the T.V. show that tells you what not to wear.

Ok, so what do you wear to help get a slimming look? We all have heard that black makes you look thinner, and that?s right. Never wear horizontal stripes, as they make you look heavier because they cause an illusion of added width. So what does that tell you about vertical stripes? Right - they have the opposite effect, making your figure appear more elongated. And why black? It?s the same concept as vertical stripes; it produces an elongated look.

You don?t want to wear black all the time? Try other dark colors: dark brown, navy, burgundy, and deep violet. They also have a slenderizing effect. You can also mix subtle dark colors or blend different shades of the same dark color. To keep the elongated look, be sure to wear off-black or black hosiery. This will maintain an unbroken vertical line resulting in a slimming look.

A definite no-no is to wear cropped tops or waist-length jackets or sweaters. They emphasize the extra tummy fat. Instead, wear long cardigan sweaters or single-breasted jackets that fall below your hips. Straight dresses with a long jacket or cardigan also work. Wear tunics with slim, not tight, pants of the same color.

Do you ever buy a size too small because you ?used to? wear it? Well, that doesn?t work. Buy proper fitting clothes that are comfortable and form fitting without being too clingy or too baggy. When you wear a size too small those extra rolls of tummy fat are highlighted. This makes you appear larger, not thinner. Clingy fabric emphasizes those areas you want covered, and baggy clothing can make you look dowdy and larger. Another trick to looking slimmer is wearing pants that zip on the side rather than in the front.

You might also want to check out under garments intended to flatten and slenderize your tummy. They are much more comfortable than they used to be.
