There are two ways to eat and get slim at the same time. You can eat less or you can eat smart taking advantage of the glycemic index (GI) of the foods you choose. A low GI Diet could be the answer you are looking for.

All Carbohydrates Are Not Created Equal

It was originally thought that all carbohydrates could be neatly divided into two camps ? sugars and starches. It was assumed that all sugars were quickly absorbed into the blood, generating glucose. The dietary community also believed all starches were absorbed more slowly. Thus, people seeking to control their sugar levels were encouraged to eat starches such as breads, cereals and legumes (beans, and others). And they were advised to avoid such things as fruit, dairy products and table sugar.

However, advances in the science of nutrition have demonstrated that not all sugars are equal. Neither are all starches. The characteristic that differentiates starches and sugars is the Glycemic Index (GI). By correcting the balance and eating a low GI diet you can loose weight and reach your natural body weight more efficiently.

The GI applies to starches and sugars. One carbohydrate can have a lower GI than another. This means the carbohydrate with a low GI is absorbed into the blood as glucose at a slower rate than the carbohydrate with a high GI.

The goal for those who would control their blood sugar levels is to choose carbohydrates with a low GI. These include such items as fresh peaches, oatmeal, or low-fat milk for breakfast; whole grain rolls, salad and coffee with low-fat milk for lunch, and vegetable soup, roasted chicken, a sweet potato and low-fat yogurt for dinner.

Implementing a low GI diet not only lowers your blood sugar levels, it allows you to eat and lose weight, as long as the portions are not excessive. As with most things in life moderation is essential. But moderation, using a low GI tactic, generates quicker, more permanent results.

By choosing wisely and with some measure of discipline, an individual can decrease their sugar intake without having to make drastic changes to their diet. In other words, they can still have that scoop of ice cream without screwing everything up. And in this case the phrase ?No pain ? no gain? is a good thing. Start your low GI diet and be pleased to know you will loose weight a healthy way.

Are you sick of reading about a "new" diet out there? With people telling you to eat this, not eat that. Check out Low GI Diet and discover the best, scientifically proven way to loose weight naturally without the use of drugs or extreme measures, your body will thank you.
