People can become quite depressed through their weight loss efforts and can become emotionally withdrawn from life. Their weight problems and lack of results from dieting cause them to be constantly depressed, causing them to turn away from safe weight reduction ideals and lead them into the dark side of dieting. People end up in the hospital from binge eating and purging, or going overboard from the use of diet pills. They spend a lot of money on so called miracle products and are quite upset that they are not getting the results that they want. With so many people looking for the answers out there it's no wonder that people run into all sorts of health problems.
There needs to be a balance of the right amount and combination of a daily diet, exercise, conviction, and realistic goals for a day, week, and month; having goals will help to motivate to make you want to stick to your overall safe weight reduction plan.
The media does not help the problem. We are bombarded daily by the television shows and commercials all telling us how we need to have the perfect body. Many people just feel they can't live up to the supposed ideal.
One thing that most people neglect, is that of a journal. A daily or even a weekly journal will help you to see where you have been and the progress you have made. Keep it next to your bed or some other easily accessible area, so you will be constantly reminded to update it. Be realistic in your goals, and take it one step at a time.
