Walking Just Take It One Step At A Time

I lost another six pounds this month. Little by little they?ve been dropping off me for the last several months, but his article isn?t about me. It?s about you.

My purpose here isn?t to brag, instead just the opposite. I still weigh in the 240s, so I have a very long way to go before I can start bragging. No, my purpose here is actually to write an, ?if I can do it, so can you? article.

I?ve been walking. About three, four or five days a week. One day I got tired of being fat and tired all the time. I had no energy and just felt bad every single day. I couldn?t control my eating so I just decided to start walking.

And I loved it. The hottest part of the summer had just ended and the mornings felt cool and invigorating. And believe me, ?invigorating? is a word that hadn?t been in my vocabulary for a loooooooong time.

Gradually the muscle pain went away (it took about two weeks, but I was very careful not to overdo it). Then I started walking a little bit farther and a little bit faster. I let my body tell me when I had pushed it too far, and would back up a bit each time.

The next thing that happened to me was that as I started to feel better from my walking, I became slightly more motivated to eat better. In gradual increments, I ate a little less and ate healthy foods. I want to be clear on this point: the motivation came to me as a result of my walking, not the other way around.

The next thing that happened was I started doing a few strength exercises to build up my upper body as well. No, I haven?t seen any sign of muscle yet, but I keep hoping.

Please understand, I am the farthest thing from an athlete. For me to get athlete?s foot would be kind of like Mike Tyson getting a brain cramp. But I enjoy my walks. The feeling of the fresh air and feeling my body move is so enjoyable I keep wondering why I haven?t been doing this for years.

So do you remember my purpose? Our bodies were made to be moved. We were given sweat glands for a reason. I am not an expert on this subject and if you looked at me now you would have no idea how far I?ve come. But as one out of shape guy to other out of shape folks, it is fun and worth it to get out there and walk.

So I?m asking you. Why would you deny yourself something this fun? Why would you let yourself lose out on feeling this good? Walking is the easiest exercise you can do to start yourself on the road to losing weight and becoming fit.

Just take it one step at a time.
