The immune system is the body's defence mechanism, fighting infection and disease on the front line. A person's frequency of illness is very much dependent on the strength of their immune system, which is made up of a complex network of lymph channels and nodes. Certain detox herbs have beneficial properties to the immune system, and are a perfectly natural way of removing those nasty toxins from the immune system for less frequent illness and a feeling of better all round general wellbeing.

Some detox herbs are better for the immune system than others, and there are a number of definite considerations for any detoxification programme. Psyllium seeds can be used to promote a healthy bowel and generally help maintain its condition, helping with problems such as diarrhoea. It is also a good herb for detox due to its sponge-like absorption properties, which helps to soak the toxins from within the body.

Another herbs which is a natural laxative and is good for flushing the system is cascara sagrada. This goes some way to help strengthen the colon and related muscles, and is often used along side psyllium seeds. Another extremely valuable substance is milk thistle, which is frequently used to effect in the liver where it simulates the synthesis of proteins. It is also particularly effective in soaking a variety of toxins from alcohol and drugs, which can be damaging to the body. Nettles can also be used as part of a mixture of detox herbs to clear the urinary system, and is also useful for cleansing elsewhere in the body. Similarly, the root of the Burdock is ideal for stronger cleansing needs,a dn can go a long way to diminishing the build up of heavy metals within the body, which can cause problems for the immune system.

Another detox herb often used is the root of the dandelion, which has strong cleaning properties particularly for the liver. It is also good for clearing waste from the gall bladder and works well on the kidneys when used in conjunction with other detox herbs.

The use of herbs as part of a detox programme is not a new idea, and the healing and cleansing properties of these plants have been known for thousands of years. They are only now beginning to see more mainstream acceptance, and be used to detoxify patients worldwide. The detox is a particularly important concept in today's environment, with dirty polluted air and processed foods full of toxins.

By making use of these natural resources, you can effectively flush out your system, leaving you looking and feeling a great deal better, with fewer and less severe illnesses as a result of a strengthened immune system. When used in conjunction with a programme of diet and exercise, detox herbs can be a wonderful way of helping weight loss, with patients reporting remarkable results in very short periods of time. The brilliant little herbs really are great for the body and great for the mind. Why not give them a go yourself, and join the herb revolution?
