Why diets do not provide permanent results?
Why most people start a diet and stop dieting after a week or two?
It sounds like a simple process. You start a diet: you only eat certain foods in specific quantities according to the menus for breakfast, lunch and diner. It sounds easy. You are supposed to lose a certain number of pounds/kilograms every week.
If it is that simple, why are millions of people still struggling with their weight?
No, it is not simply a question of will power, as many people may think. Most people who are overweight have a very strong desire to lose the extra weight. Dieting is not about will power. It is about a healthy nutrition which will take care of all the body deficiencies; a nutrition that will reestablish our health and as a bonus the extra weight will disappear.
Dieting is not an easy process because for a long time, sometime for years, we have developed eating habits that are destructive to our health and to our body. It is much easier to create new habits than to modify old ones.
Food is more than nutrients to our body.
If we were only eating to feed our body, we would not struggle with the extra weight because there would be no extra weight. We would be eating only what our body needs in the proper quantity.
To eat is both a necessity and a pleasure. We eat to enjoy the food. We eat to socialize. We eat to feed our body and our emotional needs.
For a diet to be successful:
- It should nourish our body and rectify any nutrients deficiency.
- It should be enjoyable.
- It should provide insight to acquire correct eating habits.
- It should address our self esteem and it should motivate us every day.
- It should feed both our body and our soul.
- It should be correctly planned and show how to do it.
- Done step by step on a daily basis.
If you want either to lose weight permanently or manage your weight, you should adhere to a program that should be a synergy of:
- Healthy nutrition,
- Positive attitude,
- Commitment and motivation,
- Physical exercise.
If you put your mind to it YOU can accomplish anything, and weight management is definitely one of those thing. It is just a matter of planning and regular practice.
All the knowledge in the world won't help in anyway unless you start to make some changes in:
- Your nutrition,
- Your attitude towards your eating habits and towards your body.
- Your body workout.
To get the results you want, you need to start right now.
