There's no doubt that nobody wants to see stretch marks show up on their bodies. Stretch marks are the worst enemies for women. But when women are pregnant there's a 90% of possibility to develope stretch marks. Stretch marks tend to appear on body parts that get larger during pregnancy like the abdomen, the upper thighs, the breasts and so on.

After a lot of studies, scientists have come to the conclusion that stretch marks can be a matter of inheritance. That is, if your mother or grandmother developed stretch marks during pregnancy, you are more likely to do as well.

But you came here because you want me to tell you how to put the odds in your favor and prevent stretch marks from appearing on your body. I don't want to make you wait anymore so let's start.

5 tips to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy:

1- Eat a healthy diet to keep your weight gains at a steady pace. Eating healthy and in moderate amounts will be good because it will not result into extra weight gains that could result on developing stretch marks. You should drink a minimum of 8 cups of water a day to keep a nice hydrated skin. As a guideline, you should keep your weight gain between 20-35 pounds.

2- Exercise at least one time per week. Don't exercise more than 15 minutes per workout (exceed that limit only if you are an active athlete). Be sure to have a bottle of water on hand to keep yourself hydrated every minute. Exercising will help your body to keep a steady weight. But don't over it! If you start feeling dizzy or exhausted by any reason during a workout, STOP EXERCISING! I would recommend you to visit a doctor right away.

3- Take vitamins daily. Vitamins help you mantain a healthy body with its full potencial every day. Also this builds up your skin's hydration and flexibility avoiding any unhealthy stretch. Taking vitamins every day means a nice skin and a healthy baby!

4- Massage the areas you don't want stretch marks to show up. Massaging the skin helps it to stretch in a healthy and natural way that doesn't develope stretch marks.

5- Moisturizing and hydrating your skin is key when preventing stretch marks. Get yourself a good quality skin moisturizer to keep a well hydrated skin every time.

Following these tips is going to help you prevent any stretch marks during pregnancy. It will not just help your skin, it will help you to develope a healthy baby that will appreciate your efforts!
