Vitamin D may help curb breast cancer, study finds (AP)
AP - Breast cancer patients with low levels of vitamin D were much more likely to die of the disease or have it spread than patients getting enough of the nutrient, a study found — adding to evidence the "sunshine vitamin" has anti-cancer benefits. The results are sure to renew arguments about whether a little more sunshine is a good thing.
Tips on getting vitamin D for cancer prevention (AP)
AP - Evidence is growing that vitamin D, which the skin makes from sunshine, is linked to lower risk of breast cancer and other cancers. But that doesn't mean it's good to get a golden tan — and certainly not a sunburn.

If you are a woman, it is inevitable. It will come sooner or later and it will be an uncomfortable affliction. You are not alone. Many women go through menopause every year. However, not every woman is prepared to take the challenge head on. The most common attitude among women today is a "wait and see" type attitude. This type of attitude seems good to have because one is not stressing out about it, but the fact is that this way of thinking can be counterproductive.

So what exactly happens when menopause comes? Menopause is the stage in a woman's life when her levels of hormones in the blood are lowered significantly. This hormonal imbalance results in a number of different things such as hot flashes, anxiety attacks, crazy mood changes, night sweats, and times of depression.

At this time in your life, your body is shutting off one of its main power plants: the reproduction system. The ovaries start to produce less and less estrogen and progesterone, essential hormones of women. This results in those unpleasant, irritating symptoms. Most women deny for at least one year that they are experiencing the pre-menopausal period.

Although the thought of menopause that will come one or even ten years down the road might scare the living daylights out of you, there really is no need to worry about it. To bat off early anxiety, find and stay in touch with a gynecologist. Your gynecologist will be able to answer all your questions, calm your fears, and even help you prepare for this coming life-changing event. There is also no fear when it comes to the symptoms of pre-menopausal and post menopausal. There are many natural remedies and hormone replacement medications now.

Having menopause anxiety will only increase your suffering. Remember there are many women going through what you are. Consider starting or joining a support group. Or just find a woman friend going through the same thing as a rant buddy. Rest assured that there are many remedies and medications that will help ease the wrath of menopause. A healthy diet and exercise will also help you breeze through these hard years. Even though this it a challenging, uncomfortable time, try to look at menopause as a new experience you might be able to find an ounce of good in it somewhere.
