Yeast infections are one of the most elusive infections of our day. Commonly over looked by doctors and other health professionals, some people live with yeast infections for years, completely unaware of why they are not feeling well. Over a prolonged period of time, this may lead to many other illnesses, such as irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome and too many other diseases to mention. If you are constantly feeling very run down and weak, forgetful of the smallest things, have blurred vision, and are continually craving sugar and starches, it is very possible you may have a yeast infection.
Having a yeast infection doesn?t mean you are an unclean person. It means you have an imbalance of bacteria in your system. We all have good and bad bacteria in our bodies. When there is an absence of good bacteria, our immune system becomes too weak to fight off infections and disease. The yeast, more commonly referred to as Candida, is then given free reign to spread and damage our bodies, causing major discomfort.
Drugs known to cause yeast to flare up and flourish are birth control pills, antibiotics and steroids, such as prednisone and cortisone. These drugs will kill bad bacteria as well as good. Some of the more obvious signs of yeast infections are burning in the vaginal area, discharge, pain with urination, fatigue, and a coated white tongue.
Although yeast infections are more commonly recognized as a female infection; men, children, and babies are also susceptible to Candida or yeast infections. It can be passed from one sexual partner to another during intercourse. Children can get yeast infections from eating too much sugar, carbohydrates and dairy products. It is not uncommon for babies to get thrush, a form of yeast, from too much milk built up in the mouth over a period of time and from sucking on dirty bottles. Also, diaper rashes can be a sign of yeast infections with babies.
The good new is, yeast infections can be cured. There are many over the counter products and medicines prescribed by physicians for yeast infections. Although many of these products will bring temporary relief, most will only mask the yeast as it dormantly waits for another chance to run ramped at some later date. By getting the right information and changing your diet you can kill the yeast for good. It is easy to do and can make a world of difference in your health!
