Everyone is affected by stress every now and then, though for some it can really start taking over their lives. Its like carrying around an extra heavy bag, filled with the stresses of everyday life... and why not throw in some worry and anxiety too.

We carry around with us a great amount of tension when we are stressed and this really builds up over time and can sometimes lead to chronic physical and psychological conditions. Do not worry, yoga can help!

Yoga helps to release the build up of tension in our bodies. As we let go of these blockages, we also do in mind and spirit. The benefits of yoga include increased body awareness, the release of tension in the muscles and helps you to find balance in mind and body. The meaning of yoga is a coming together of the body, mind and spirit.

There are many kinds of yoga one can study, there can be years of practice for the willing student. Hatha Yoga is one of the most popular forms, it emphasizes the practice of postures, which stretch and strengthen the body, help acquire a sense of stability and flexibility. All forms of yoga embody the practice and use of proper breathing for ultimate relaxation, to let the mind rest and to experience inner calm.

Yoga really has an amazing calming effect on people, many are taking to exercise for the psychological benefits and going for Eastern activities, like yoga and tai chi. Through regular practice of yoga we acquire a consistent state of balance which translates not only on the mat but in our day to day life. We become better able to handle whatever life throws at us, we can handle life from a more open-minded point of view. By doing this we can truly enjoy each day to the fullest.

True wisdom comes from within. If you learn to quiet your mind, you'll be likely to live longer, and fuller, with better health. The practice of yoga and meditation can offer similar benefits you would get taking antidepressants, without the side effects!
